Dill is a perfect herb choice for someone who is just starting out in gardening. This easy to grow herb just requires full sun and space between seeds to flourish. After a couple weeks of growth, thin the herbs out so that they are about a foot apart. You can harvest the leaves as soon as you see at least 5 leaves on the plant. Pinch off top leaves for the best flavor. When planting; place the soil pellet into the polybag with 3 tablespoons of water and wait for the soil to expand. Once expanded push the top of the planter into the box and fill it with soil. Plant the seeds so that they are covered in soil and water as needed. Once your seedlings reach 2-3″ recycle the polybag and plant the entire paper planter into a larger container or in a soil plot outdoors once the danger of frost has passed.
This easy herb to grow is wonderful in soups, stews, and salads. It can also be used for pickling liquids for other vegetables. These bright yellow blooms will attract bees to your garden, helpful in pollinating your other plants if you have a larger garden. One note on these tasty herbs, be sure to not plant them next to carrots.
